The corporate success story of Sam Foti
Sam Foti, President and Chief Operating Officer of the MONY Group, has been working in the insurance and investment industry for more than three decades. He is a Wharton Business School graduate of the 1974 batch. After dabbling into legal studies and failing to comprehend the basics, he re-entered the investment education and completed his Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, majoring in Finance and Investments.
Samuel J. Foti joined the industry as a Chartered Life Insurer in 1977 and initially worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. The last position was of vice president before he joined the MONY Group in 1988 as the National Director of Agency Operations. United States was going through a recession at the time and working conditions were challenging to say the least.
Samuel Foti introduced modern business procedures and helped in changing the business model of the company. Insurance business and investment arms of the company were reshuffled and new lines of businesses were introduced. He created Enterprise Strategies Group, a new investment group of the company that helped in expanding its business to new sectors and markets. Additionally, he also worked for the divestment of some subsidiaries after the company’s acquisition by AXA Financial.
