I’m Free of the Office! Hooray for WebPoint!

Date: November 13 2009

I’m a pretty cool boss, but it bothers me that with so many employees on the road we can’t even keep our pricelists synched, let alone collaborate on sales numbers or other data.

I’ve tried high end collaboration tools, but they’re expensive to deploy and often take so much training that it’s just not viable in  our company.  That’s until I tried WebPoint VPN by Vedivi.  I took the free trial and within 30 minutes I’d downloaded and set up the VPN for remote access.

It’s frankly amazing.  I’m not sure how exactly it connects, but it does and it allows secure access to keep all the prying eyes out.  Basically you install the software on one pc in the network and it’ll discover all the other machines and servers in your network.

You log on via the WebPoint website, which then creates a secure connection between your remote PC and the Network.
Best of all, it actually uses your Windows authentication on your remote pc to connect to the network, so you can control access to data and servers!
I took the enterprise free trial and it works really well.  Try it for yourself.

Features of a mobile phone

Date: September 30 2009

Mobiles are gadgets of popular use. Now a day can you imagine going anywhere without carrying your mobile? It is a small wonder. People these days just cannot do without it. It has programmed our life in such a way that you cannot afford to spend your day without it. Life becomes practically motionless if you are not without your mobile phone.

The gadget has acquired so much popularity because of the multiple features that characterize it. You must have heard that it is programmed in the C computer language. It connects you to your friends and foes too. Other than performing the primary task of connecting you to your loved ones, it can serve you with the multiple functions of short message service, push messages, voice mails, internet surfing, mailing. It also serves as a standard portable media player and music player too. The recent innovation in the field of mobile technology is the availability of Bluetooth technology that has so far provoked both good, bad, better and the best controversies. The Bluetooth technology is the advanced version of infrared technology that is available in some of the mobiles. But the services differ with handsets.

Another most important aspect is the ringtones for mobiles. Ringtone is the soul of a mobile. People keep on changing them and set such ringtones that they think can suit their choice. It has a psychological back up for the person, who use them, for some people love to set the tune that they love to listen every time.

Mobile handsets

Whenever we talk about the cell phone industry, one name keeps coming up, and that of course is the mobile manufacturing giant Nokia. Considering their highly successful N series venture, at a time when no other cell phone maker was near the competition radar in the context of multi media phones, one thing that will strike you is that since the bringing out of the N95, the newer phones really do not leave much to talk about. Given that Nokia had brought out N70s in their N series that had lesser range than the N90 series, but their decision of bridging a certain gap (perceived by them) in the form of other N series phones really leaves no reason to bring out further N series phones. The N80 series was supposedly more pumped up as to the mobile entertainment features, but surely, the N95 has not disappointed us in those quarters earlier on.

When it comes to other mobile handset makers who make enticing phones4U, including Sony Ericsson, and Motorola, among others, their consistent approaches to lure larger number of people into buying their multi media handsets have not entirely turned out to be disappointing ventures. Sony Ericsson’s Walkman phones appealed to the younger lot, with a cool music version of their multimedia phones. Motorola’s Razor series was topped with the recent Razor2, which was even sleeker, and deadlier than the original version, with fantastic multimedia applications. Sony Ericsson’s take on the PDA business phone segment was encapsulated in the launch of their high-end multimedia phones, but somehow this segment belongs solely to Blackberry.
